Taking Flight: The Dynamic World of Pilates Jumpboard Workouts

An innovative addition to the traditional reformer that adds a dynamic, cardiovascular, low-impact element to classical Pilates work. What it is, what it does, who it's for.

Taking Flight: The Dynamic World of Pilates Jumpboard Workouts

The jumpboard is a flat, padded board that attaches to the foot of the reformer. Lying on your back with feet on the board, you press through the springs to launch your body horizontally — landing softly, with the springs absorbing impact instead of your joints. The result is a low-impact cardiovascular workout that delivers the heart rate of a run with a fraction of the orthopedic load.

Why we use it

  • Cardio without joint impact — perfect for runners cross-training, post-injury rehab, and anyone with knee or hip concerns.
  • Power development — explosive concentric work that translates directly into sport.
  • Variety — breaks up traditional reformer sequencing and keeps long-term clients engaged.
  • Bilateral and unilateral options — single-leg work exposes asymmetries and trains balance under load.

Jumpboard sequences are programmed into select group classes and can be focused in private sessions. If you're curious to try, mention it when booking your next class — we'll work it into the lesson plan.
